Instructions

  1. 1
    Part 1
  2. 2
Chop the Onions and Tomatoes and leave aside.
  3. 3
Grind the garlic and ginger together in a mortar pestle.
  4. 4
Drop all the spices, including the paprika into a spice grinder or coffee bean grinder and grind until youre left with a spice powder.
  5. 5
    Part 2
  6. 6
Heat Oil in a Saucepan and drop the chopped Onions. Once they brown a little add the ginger garlic paste and keep sautéing for a few seconds.
  7. 7
Now add the chopped tomatoes and keep stirring so the ingredients dont burn.
  8. 8
Once the tomatoes soften up add the ground beef and reduce the heat to a medium low.
  9. 9
Mix all the ingredients, making sure you break down the ground beef as you go.
  10. 10
Now add the ground spices and stir.
  11. 11
Add 2 cups of water, sprinkle salt and give everything a good stir. Bring the heat up so that the water comes to a boil.
  12. 12
Once the water starts to bubble up, lower the heat to medium and leave the mixture to cook with a lid on. Once the temperature is regulated the water should be simmering not boiling rapidly.
  13. 13
The beef will be ready in 40 minutes. Keep an eye on it, stirring it every 15 minutes. Towards the end youll have to keep stirring the beef until the water dries out completely.
  14. 14
Once 20 minutes are up add the vinegar, stir the ground beef and continue cooking without the lid on.
  15. 15
If you feel the water has dried out, use the back of a spoon to press the ground beef against the inner wall of the saucepan to see if any liquid is being released. If it appears dry, turn off the heat and leave the ground beef to cool down.
  16. 16
    Part 3
  17. 17
After its cooled, add a little bit of the beaten egg at a time, until the mixture comes together. You should be able to shape it into oblong rolls.
  18. 18
If your mixture is a bit too moist add a bit of almond meal to soak up the moisture, but this is only if youve added too much egg.
  19. 19
Shape the beef into rolls and leave aside.
  20. 20
Put oil in a frying pan and carefully place the beef rolls in the pan, leaving enough space between them.
  21. 21
Brown on all sides and drain on an absorbent towel.
  22. 22
If using eggs to wrap the rolls, beat the eggs first and then fry the mixture to get thin egg wraps. Cut the egg wrap into smaller pieces to match the size of the rolls.
  23. 23
Alternatively use lettuce or bacon to wrap the rolls.
